Introduction About Our School

St. Xavier High School, Rania, Haryana

The School is named after St. Francis Xavier the Apostle of the East, a Jesuit priest of the 15th century, who is also the patron of our Missionary Society. It is administered by the Registered Society of Pilar, Punjab-Haryana, a branch of the Society of Pilar, Goa, a minority institution, established under Art. 30 (#1) of the Constitution of India.

In 1960, Rev. Fr. Mariano Pereira and Rev. Fr. Ovidio D’Cunha arrived in Sirsa and established the first community of Pilar Fathers in the North India. Two years later in 1962, a hostel cum orphanage was opened to accommodate needy children. In 1965, a small Hindi Medium School took shape with 15 boys and it expanded over the years. In 1974, Rev. Fr. Francisco Diniz started St. Xavier’s English Medium School that continues to educated children with Christian ideals. Able and dedicated priests of the Society of Pilar have served the institution in various capacities since then.

Along with activities in Sirsa these priests began ministering to Christians in Rania. Rev. Fr. Inacinho Dourado, one of the early missionary priests purchased a small plot of land in Pratapnagar village to build a community hall. In 1972, Fr. M.T. Antony (Devanand) began residing in Rania. He started a Hindi Medium School in a humble way under the shade of a huge neem tree which took branches and came to be known as ‘Jagat Jyoti Vidhayala’. In 1982, a plot measuring two acres was purchased to shift the School to a new compound and building. Sisters of Franciscan Missionaries of Christ the King (FMCK) served the institute till 2010 and took care of girls hostel along with Pilar Priests.

Due to changing scenario in the country and efficacy of English studies, parents requested the School management to adopt English as medium of instruction, which it obliged. In 2013, the School started instructions in English medium. In 2018, the School name was changed to St. Xavier High School. On November 4, 2019 foundation of new school building was laid at Bharolanwali village and completed in 2021.
